Unlike summer, the beaches in the winter offer little to no crowds, making it the perfect time to enjoy a peaceful morning or evening at the beach. Plus, you can visit the beach for free during the winter months!
Enjoy the boardwalk all to yourself
Similar to the beach, feel like you practically have the boardwalk all to yourself. Strolling the boardwalk is a simple activity for both the family to enjoy and couples as well. There is something truly special about walking up and down the promenade, and because it’s winter, it will feel like your own private vacation!
Visit a Lighthouse
When visiting Ocean Grove in the winter, be sure to stop in to see one of the lighthouses in the area. Most stay open during the winter and it makes for a fun and unique activity you can only experience at the beach. Roughly a 20-minute drive from Ocean Grove is the Sea Grit Lighthouse or walk the grounds at the Navesink Twin Lights in Highlands, NJ. This historic site is open on weekends and offers a museum with an educational exhibit.
