History: The Rev. Dr. E.H. Stokes was one of the founders and the first President of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association. Rev. Stokes and his colleagues rebuilt the Great Auditorium in 1884 which at the time was the largest audience room of its kind in the United States and perhaps the largest in the world at a cost of nearly $75,000.
